双凤镇

双凤镇是江南历史文化名镇，素有“太仓之根”美誉，境内有距今4500多年的维新良渚文化遗址。全镇总面积62.6平方公里，辖9个村民委员会、3个社区居民委员会，全镇常住人口7万人，户籍人口3.3万人。

双凤镇形成了生物医药、新材料、汽车配件、精密机械、休闲食品五大特色产业，是苏州市特种新材料特色产业基地。国家级垂钓中心已举办各类大型垂钓比赛150多场次，获 “全国休闲渔业示范基地”称号。双凤文化底蕴深厚、宗教历史悠久，享有“中国民间艺术——龙狮之乡”、“羊肉美食之乡”、“山歌之乡”的美誉，曾荣获全国环境优美乡镇、国家卫生镇、国家生态镇等称号。

Known as a famous historic and cultural town and “the root of Taicang”, Shuangfeng Town is home to the Weixin Liangzhu Cultural Relics, which has a history of more than 4,500 years. The town, covering an area of 62.6 square kilometers, consists of nine villagers’ committees and three neighborhood committees, with permanent resident population of 70,000 and floating population of 33,000.

The town has revealed a fast development of five major characteristic industries, including bio-medicine, new materials, auto parts, precision machinery and snack food, and become a base for special new material industry. The National Fishing Center has held more than 150 fishing competitions of various types, and won the title of “National Leisure Fishery Demonstration Base”. Shuangfeng Town boasts profound cultural deposits and a long religious history. It is also crowned as the Home of China’s Folk Arts (Dragon and Lion Dance), Home of Mutton Food and Home of Folk Songs. It has won many honorable titles, such as National Beautiful Town, National Sanitary Town and National Ecological Town.
